My first horse Bluebell in Vermont

BIO

I think the first horse I rode was while I was in my mother's belly.
Where ever we were located internationally my family always found a way to be with horses. In Thailand, it was horse shows, gymkhanas, and theatrical productions on horseback. In Nigeria, I learned Polo and how to exercise 6 polo ponies at once. In Guatemala, my sister, mother and I got jumping lessons from the Guatemalan Olympic 2nd coach.
For most of my young life we would return to the US for long summers. Half was spent in Vermont, training and competing in Eventing at The Green Mountain Horse Association, (Cross Country, Dressage and Stadium Jumping), to learn all the formalities of horsemanship through Pony Club Camps. The second half of the summer was quite a different approach. From Vermont, we trailer our horses down to the Block Island Ferry, walked them carefully aboard to the lower deck and "sailed " the hour to the Island . Once there, my siblings and I were let loose to spent all day on our ponies. Much was learned by trial and error. My mother would join us to gallop down Cresent Beach, we swam the horses in the ocean and ponds, riding bareback most of the time ; trying things like Roman riding, vaulting and sidesaddle. In 1998, I moved to LA and started my family. I worked as a staff special needs riding instructor at Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship in Chatsworth for 8 years. I was working on my Advanced Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification when Covid hit. I was also a Board Member and learned Vaulting skills for several years with Valley View Vaulters.
